Michael Collins Dunn, Ph.D., Editor of The Estimate

Michael Collins Dunn, founder and Editor of The Estimate, is a Middle East specialist with more than 25 years’ experience in the field. Some details of Dr. Dunn's experience:

Co-founded The International Estimate, Inc. In 1988 and The Estimate in 1989; sole owner since 1990-1991.

Also Editor of The Middle East Journal, the academic quarterly of the Middle East Institute, since October 1998.

Has taught at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies and at Utah State University. (Ph.D., Georgetown, 1975 in Islamic History.)

A specialist in Egyptian history by training, Dr. Dunn lived in Egypt in 1972-1973 and 1977-1978. He has traveled widely in the Arab world from Morocco to Oman.

Special interests include Middle Eastern security policy, political Islam, North Africa and Egypt, and the Gulf.

Has written for most Middle East-oriented publications and the general press. Has appeared on most major television networks and news programs, including CNN, ABC News Nightline, NBC Today, PBS’ McNeil-Lehrer News Hour, and many others.

Married and lives in Northern Virginia.
